A beautiful landscape full of chestnut trees, water springs and the notorious vulture of Crete wandering the mountaintops like guardian angel of our land, lies the village of Elos at an altitude of 560m. the village is on the route Chania – Kissamos – Elafonisi.

From the year 2002 “Kamares” tavern under the owners Theodor and Helen Tzanakaki creates with love and inspiration traditional dishes from Crete. We use only fresh and local ingredients of our own and cook them exclusively with extra virgin olive oil.

Our specialties are Sauteed lamp, kid with potatoes and chestnuts in the oven, staka delicacy, coq au vin, dolmadakia, chestnuts giachni and many more dishes from the famous cretan cuisine.
